Nîmes — Roman Sites

Nîmes has several of Europe's best-preserved ancient Roman sites — the Maison Carrée temple, the amphitheater Les Arènes, and the Porte d'Auguste — set in a charming downtown of pedestrian lanes, squares and a medieval cathedral. Pont du Gard, the largest Roman aqueduct bridge ever built, lies a short distance outside the city.
